Trays are for sharing. Serving trays and platters are the centerpieces of a family meal, or a celebration gathering…the classic long table holiday spread. But they are also a palate for presenting a selection of cake slices, appetizers, mini sandwiches, even a line (or a snake) of tea cups. Trays can be for transporting, but I love trays because they allow us to show our pride and pleasure in the food we are offering.
I am playing with form: challenging the western notion of a rectangular tray used to transport things by making my trays in softer, more fluid, shapes, and decorative textures. These trays don’t have to hold anything in order to be a perfect centerpiece or display for your home.
