Crane with its extra long neck can be a sculpture or a vase. The crane is a made with porcelaneous stoneware with Custer feldspar to give it “star burst” effect. Fired in noborigama and reduce cooled for over 40 hours. glazes accentuate Inscribed black underglaze and the celadons show off the volatile flying ash in the kiln so each piece is unique. Since flying ash continue to melt on the piece, the “rougher” side was facing the firebox.
